As you all know, writing and reading go hand in hand. But what can you do with a struggling reader? R.E.A.D. has one solution. This organization seeks to pair struggling readers with some of man’s best friends. That’s right, dogs can help you read!!!
When children with reading difficulties pick up a book, they encounter feelings of shame and trepidation. It can be scary reading aloud to adults or peers when you know you can’t read well. But it’s never scary reading to a dog. These trained dogs are being used in many schools with struggling readers to help children become comfortable with reading aloud. Practice makes perfect, and who wouldn’t want to read to such a cute face?
